we got fucked by the abf

alright, transparency time. this ones not fun.

our latest container landed in port on the 9th of july. instead of clearing like normal, it got pulled by Australian Border Force for additional processing. no reason given, no timeframe given, and legally they dont have to give us either. heres the actual email from our freight forwarder:

"The ship arrived in port in Australia on 9/7/26, however, the container has been held for additional processing at the port by Australian Border Force (ABF/customs). Please note that this additional processing is expected to take a significant amount of time, usually several weeks or more. ABF can hold, investigate, and inspect any container / shipment they want, and we must cooperate. They do not provide any time frame and do not have to disclose any reason to us. It is not possible to provide any ETA while this is held by ABF."

so yeah. several weeks or more, and nobody can tell us anything. to be clear theres nothing dodgy in there, its filament. ABF can pull any container they like and this time it was ours.

what this means for you

72 orders are caught up in this. if yours is one of them you already know, its the stuff thats been sitting in "waiting on stock" way longer than we said it would. we genuinely thought it was days away, then this happened.

if youre one of the 72 and dont want to wait it out, you can edit your order or grab a full refund yourself through our order edit portal, swap the stuck items for something in stock, or just refund them, totally up to you. no stress either way, the moment that container clears your order goes out same day.

and about our forwarder

when we raised that this isnt even our first container to get held, this was the actual response we got:

"Only a small percentage of containers are held for additional processing. If you have had multiple containers held, then that is quite bad luck."

quite bad luck. cheers guys. thats the level of help we were getting, so we're done with that forwarder entirely. future shipments are moving to a new freight setup, which should mean less of this nonsense going forward.

sorry to everyone stuck waiting. we hate this as much as you do, and the second we know anything youll know too.
