3D Printer Build Plates and Flex Plates Australia
Build plate types
- Spring steel + PEI: the modern standard, flex to release prints
- Glass: flat, holds heat well, harder to release prints
- PC garolite: best for nylon adhesion
- Magnetic flex plates: the spring steel sits on a magnetic base on the heated bed
PEI smooth vs textured
Smooth PEI gives a shiny first-layer surface; great for visual prints but more sensitive to nozzle gap. Textured PEI gives a satin-textured first-layer surface; more forgiving and grippier for ABS and ASA. Most printers ship with one of each.
CryoGrip Pro premium plates
CryoGrip Pro is the premium build sheet option: stronger grip during printing, faster release on cooling, longer surface life. Worth the upgrade for high-volume users or specialty filaments.
