Polycarbonate (PC) Filament Guide

Polycarbonate (PC) Filament Guide

When to pick PC

Parts that face genuine heat: under-bonnet automotive, light fittings, heat shields, soldering jigs, anything near 100 C continuous. PC also handles impact and stress better than PLA or PETG.

Print settings

  • Nozzle 260 to 290 C
  • Bed 100 to 120 C, PEI with glue stick
  • Enclosure required for any meaningful print
  • All-metal hotend mandatory (PTFE liners break down at this temp)
  • Layer fan off
  • Dry the spool every print

PC blends

  • PC ABS: easier to print than pure PC, mid-way heat resistance, still tough
  • PC GF: glass fibre reinforced for added rigidity and dimensional stability
  • Prusament PC Blend: pre-blended for FDM printability while keeping most PC properties
