Polycarbonate (PC) Filament Guide
When to pick PC
Parts that face genuine heat: under-bonnet automotive, light fittings, heat shields, soldering jigs, anything near 100 C continuous. PC also handles impact and stress better than PLA or PETG.
Print settings
- Nozzle 260 to 290 C
- Bed 100 to 120 C, PEI with glue stick
- Enclosure required for any meaningful print
- All-metal hotend mandatory (PTFE liners break down at this temp)
- Layer fan off
- Dry the spool every print
PC blends
- PC ABS: easier to print than pure PC, mid-way heat resistance, still tough
- PC GF: glass fibre reinforced for added rigidity and dimensional stability
- Prusament PC Blend: pre-blended for FDM printability while keeping most PC properties
