HISTORY
What are the different versions of SIDDAMENT?
We work with a handful of manufacturers and each is better at different things. Here's the honest rundown so you can pick the right roll for your print.
V1
The original
The company we've used for the last 7 years. Great, affordable filament with a huge 500+ custom colour range. The catch is colour consistency — out of every 100 colours, 2–3 might come back slightly off. They try hard, but that many custom colours is a big ask. Use V1 if you want consistently in-stock filament and can take the odd colour variation.
V2
OEM-grade consistency
A newer partner that makes filament for large OEMs — very consistent colour batch to batch, and supports the Prusa open print tag. Rolls come on splittable, reusable spools and are double-dried at the factory, so they usually print straight out of the bag. The only catch: it's a fast mover and sells out quickly. Use V2 for long projects where consistency is key.
V3
Nature 3D
We've used Nature 3D for 4 years. They make our sparkle, matte and burnt-titanium finishes, with great colour accuracy and very bright ranges. Batches can be defective now and then, but it's rare. An all-round solid company. Use V3 for vibrant prints.
V4
Kexcelled (North Bridge)
The premium end. Kexcelled make some of the best PLA in dark, muddy earth tones and some of the best matte ABS in the world. It costs more, but you're paying for consistency and high precision. Use V4 for consistent results on demanding, high-precision prints.
V5
Sting 3D
A wide range of OEM colours that fill the gaps in our current line-up. Great colour range and a costlier company, with quality that can vary a little. Use V5 when you need a specific colour we don't otherwise carry.
They're all great — but if you want the most consistent results every time, we'd point you at V2 and Kexcelled (V4).
