Best filament for printed Nerf blasters
| Filament | Use |
|---|---|
| PETG | Blaster shells, internal hardware brackets, anywhere impact matters |
| PLA+ | Easier-to-print blaster shells with better impact than standard PLA |
| ABS | Heat-tolerant parts, vapour-smoothable shells |
| TPU 95A | Bumpers, grips and protective tips |
| TPU 85A | Soft accessory parts (slings, grip wraps) |
| Matte PLA | Visual finish on display blasters or low-impact accent pieces |
Why not standard PLA for blasters
Standard PLA looks great printed but cracks at stress concentrations when blasters get dropped, banged or shot at by other blasters. PLA+ adds toughness without changing the print process much. PETG is the next step up for anything that takes regular impact.
Common build print settings
- PETG: 235 C nozzle, 80 C bed, 50 percent fan, 4 to 5 perimeters on impact parts
- PLA+: 215 C nozzle, 60 C bed, 100 percent fan
- ABS: 245 C nozzle, 100 C bed, enclosure, glue stick or ABS slurry
Premade printed blasters
