Why PrusaSlicer for beginners

Install and first run

  • Download from prusa3d.com/prusaslicer
  • Run the installer
  • On first launch, the Configuration Wizard asks which printer you have
  • Pick your printer (Prusa, Original, Voron, Creality, etc.), wide list
  • Skip materials for now

Import a Siddament filament profile

Download the matching profile from siddament.com.au (free, no signup). In PrusaSlicer: File > Import > Import Config Bundle, select the downloaded JSON. The profile appears in the Filament dropdown.

Slice your first print

  • File > Open and select an STL or 3MF
  • Pick your printer in the top right
  • Pick the imported filament profile
  • Pick a print quality (0.2 mm draft, 0.15 mm normal, 0.10 mm fine)
  • Click Slice Now
  • Check the preview, then Export G-code to SD card

Useful settings to know

  • Layer height: lower for detail, higher for speed
  • Perimeters: 2 is fine for visual, 4 for functional
  • Infill density: 15 to 20 percent for most, 50+ for strength
  • Supports: tree or organic supports save the most cleanup
  • Brim: 5 to 8 mm for warping prevention on large prints
