Why I don’t sell printer parts or plates (mini rant)

(below is a mini rant typed up at 4:30am after years of questions of if I’ll ever stock parts)

The reason why I pulled back on parts a couple months ago, was due to the already saturated market of 3d printer parts. You can for example buy parts from multiple shops already and you can buy parts from ebay, Amazon, AliExpress for super cheap and with relatively fast shipping.

To setup a whole shelf to inventory parts is just a death wish for me.

the main reason is, parts are not always universal and the warranty process for electronics especially hobbyists grade stuff is like a minefield as you can blow up a motherboard if its wired incorrectly or for improper use.

Not to mention some of the parts are so printer specific that they would barely sell, on top of that some of these parts cost so much upfront to buy, that you could basically buy 10-20 rolls of filament instead of buying 1 motherboard from a factory.

Compared to filament, parts are just a straight up money  pit. This is probably an exclusive problem to 3d filament based shops. As some other companies do both and work out just fine, but in my case for siddament it just makes no sense.

I also will probably never do build plates as there again is so many options and also they are super easy to damage.

I basically hate dealing with returns and warranty thing's, you may have already experienced this as I barely ask for product return when I send out wrong orders or when there’s a defect with the roll, it’s more cost effective to just send out a full replacement and write off the improper sent stock, so you also end up getting the free rolls from the incorrect order this is also why the support and satisfaction rating is so high. if I did this for parts it would legit be the death of me cause I could not be fked troubleshooting a blown capacitor over emails (ain’t nobody got time to spend hours to fix a motherboard that only made 10$ in profit while costing 100$ to buy and stock on a shelf)

the worker nerf stuff is a different thing as those items barely break and are super cheap to replace and there’s a warranty system setup with Luke and his team at out of darts, also the worker factory takes care of issues directly as well.

the only parts or accessories I sell are goofy things like the stringum obliterus, cuttament flush cutters, bags of white powder. As these are tested to work well and are also much easier to warranty and replace.

I won’t sell nozzles either as again guys just go Amazon and buy 5-10 nozzles for 1$ a piece and get them delivered next day.
